Publishing Surrealism: Roland Penrose’s Library

The Penrose collection which the National Gallery acquired a few years ago is very rich in artist’s books by leading Surrealists. Penrose himself often played a role in their publication. Publishing Surrealism: Roland Penrose’s Library is a chance to see some of this treasure displayed. It really is remarkable and includes, as you would expect, some wondrously strange images by artists like Max Ernst and Penrose himself. ■
