- By SAM SHEDDEN

A zoo caretaker was mauled to death by two young white tigers as he went into their enclosure to feed them a evening meal.

The incident took place at Bannerghatta Biological Park near Bangalore, India, at around 7pm on Saturday.

Anjaneya, who was known only by his first name, had taken on the caretaker role at the zoo just a week before on a temporary basis.

According to the park’s police, 42-year-old Anjaneya had gone to check on the white tigers and feed them.

He had not realised the tigers were in the safari area of the enclosure, an official said.

The official said, one of the tigers jumped on Anjaneya and bit his neck, before dragging him away to kill.
