At Meggetland, Boroughmuir recorded a 52-5 win over a Currie Chieftains side unable to field a full squad, beginning the match with only 14 players.
For Boroughmuir, Lennox Baselala (2), Beck Davies, Scott Habib, Lewis Thompson, Gavin Inkster, Callum Ewart and James Stewar scored tries and there were conversions from Calum Anderson, Lewis Reid (2) and Nairn Ross (3).
In the other Shogun Conference match at under-18 level, Ayr were comfortable winners over West of Scotland.
Meanwhile, in schools rugby, George Heriot’s continued their good run of results at first XV level by defeating Hutchesons’ Grammar School 38-14.
But the Goldenacre side had to come from behind in the final eight minutes of the match when they rediscovered their winning formula.
“After a dismal first half we trailed 10-14, but we got our act together in the second half and ended up winning the game.” said the Heriot’s coach Ewan Harrison.
Tomorrow four-time winners George Watson’s College travel to Aberdeen for their cup-tie with Robert Gordon’s College ,amatch in which the Myresiders, unbeaten in domestic competition so far this season, will be the favourites to win.
