New GP contract to be published next month

GPS will discuss their new contract published early next month at the Scottish Local Medical Committees conference on 1 December.

After that a poll will take place and will be open to all local doctors in Scotland.

A series of roadshows will take place throughout November, including a webcast on the 20th for those unable to attend in person. Dr Alan Mcdevitt, chairman of BMA Scotland’s GP committee, said: “Our negotiations with the Scottish Government are almost complete and we are looking forward to publishing the proposed new contract for GPS in early November, before polling the entire profession for their views.”

Health Secretary Shona Robison said: “A new GP contract will provide benefits for GPS, patients and healthcare staff.”
