Summit set to examine tech’s gender imbalance
A new event is to take place in Edinburgh looking to address and help boost gender diversity in the tech industry.
Informatics Ventures, which connects investors and highgrowth tech ventures, has united with Women’s Enterprise Scotland (WES) for the Making IT Work for Women summit on Tuesday 24 October. It is aimed at start-ups, tech entrepreneurs and corporates, as well as science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) subject teachers and students.
Speakers include Jean Kerr, head of leadership and team intelligence for EMEAR Cisco, Sharon Moore, technical leader at IBM UK, and former Skyscanner chief operating officer Mark Logan, who will discuss gender diversity in his speech titled Ending the Unconscious Sexism of the Tech Industry.
Weschairlynnecadenhead said: “As one of the fastestgrowing sectors in the world, the benefits to Scotland’s economy of encouraging more women to pursue careers in tech would be considerable.”
