Yousaf urges opponents to get behind rail funds call

- By ANGUS HOWARTH

Scotland’s transport minister has called for political parties north of the Border to unite over a demand for a “fair financial settlement” for rail funding.

The call came as Humza Yousaf reiterated his concern over the UK Treasury’s approach to funding for the next control period from 2019 until 2024. Mr Yousaf said: “It is of critical importance to Scotland’s communities and businesses that we secure a fair financial settlement, which enables the Scottish rail industry to plan for the future 0 Humza Yousaf says that he is worried about rail funding with certainty. I am writing to political parties across the chamber to seek their support in calling for fair funding for our railways – I hope they will join with me in standing up for Scotland’s rail network.”
