Half-marathon glory for city runner

A first-time half-marathon competitor from Glasgow has come first in a major event held in Manchester.

Luke Traynor stormed away from the field in perfect conditions to win the Manchester Half Marathon with nearly a minute clear.

The second annual Manchester Half Marathon took place yesterday, welcoming thousands of runners and spectators to the streets of Trafford where the race was held.

Mr Traynor smashed last year’s best time of 1.04.41, crossing the finishing line with a time of 1.04.10 after taking an early lead.
