Migrants query

-

The Council of Europe has asked Italy to explain what its naval ships are doing off Libya’s coast (your World News report, 12 October).

It should be blindingly obvious to this expensive and useless organisation that this is being done to halt the flood of immigrants into Italy, which together with Greece, are incurring the huge expensive costs of Europe-bound migrants.

The council’s Nils Muiznieks warned interior minister Marco Minniti that Italy risked violating the European Convention on Human Rights. The success of this Italian naval initiative is that the number of migrants who reached Italy in 2017 is 25 per cent less than 2016.

Over 3,500 people are employed by the Council of Europe, so if each took in a refugee family, at their own expense, this would ease the migrant crisis in Italy and Greece.

That reminds me – I wonder how the refugee families that Nicola Sturgeon, MSP, and Yvette Cooper, MP, very publically announced they would take in to their own homes are getting on.
