A taxi driver has escaped injury after a firework was thrown into the back of his cab.

Police said a teenager in a group of four approached the taxi, asked the price of a fare and then threw the firework into the car.

The incident happened at about 8:10pm on Monday in Craigmore Street, Dundee. The driver was not hurt and no significant damage was caused to the taxi. Police Scotland said in a statement: “Anybody thinking of using fireworks should be aware it is an offence to throw, cast or fire any firework in or into a public place.”
