Inquiry after woman dies in house fire

A woman has died in a house fire in Aberdeen.

Firefighte­rs were called to a property in Shapinsay Square at around 9:10pm on Monday and extinguish­ed the flames.

A later search found the body of a 39-year-old woman. No one else was injured.

The cause of the fire is being investigat­ed and the death is currently being treated as unexplaine­d. A force spokesman said: “Whilst enquiries are at an early stage and ongoing at present, the death is being treated as unexplaine­d and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.”
