Fatal crash victim named by police

A woman who died in a car crash in the Borders has been named by police.

Officers at Police Scotland said that Joan Mellors, 86, from Peebles, died after the silver Honda Jazz shewasdriv­ingovertur­ned and landed in a field.

The accident happened on the A701 near West Linton on 11 October.

An 84-year-old female passenger was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary with non-life-threatenin­g injuries.

Officers have urged anyone with informatio­n about the incident to come forward or phone them on 101.
