Firefighters visit high-rises in Grenfell Tower support drive

- By GRAEME MURRAY

Firefighters have visited more than 1,000 high-rise homes to offer reassurance and support following the Grenfell Tower tragedy.

Fires in high-rise properties are at their lowest level in eight years, according to statistics from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS).

The figures showed 238 incidents were reported over 201617 in flats at least ten storeys high.

Fire chiefs said this is a reduction of almost a quarter on the previous year.

The visits follow the launch of a national high-rise fire safety campaign to encourage more residents to request a free and dedicated home fire safety visit.
