A house that expands with a family’s needs

-

The type of property a homeowner needs throughout their lives changes, but some new house designs offer a flexible approach to changing circumstances.

Buying a home with the space to expand when the family does, or an interior layout which can change with the needs of the household, is a good way to future-proof your home, and some developers are offering easy solutions to meet the evolving needs of the owner.

Stewart Milne Homes has launched a Cairn house type at its Den View, Kingswells, Aberdeen development, designed for families to grow into rather than having to move when their needs change.

The Long Cairn can be personalised before buyers move in with a choice of two or three floors and three or four bedrooms, or owners can expand their space upwards at a later date. The garden level features open plan living, dining and kitchen and a laundry zone.

Large full-height windows and bi-fold doors open onto a private deck.

The entry level, which is a floor up, can be tailored three different ways. The first has a lounge as well as the master bedroom with walk-in wardrobe and an ensuite, plus a bathroom.
