What’s the last piece of clothing you bought?

A handloom coat from Nomads – a fantastic British fair trade brand that I love. I got it at my favourite Edinburgh boutique, Eden in Stockbridge.

What are you addicted to buying?

Blue tops. They are quite a limited shade of blue too, ranging from cobalt to navy.

Best ever bargain?

My wedding dress. My husband and I got married on a beach at Crear in the west of Scotland. We were trying to do so without breaking the bank so I ended up getting a champagne-coloured lace maxi-dress from British brand Gina Bacconi for half price in the John Lewis sale.

Who has great style?

I admire the style of Iris Apfel though I don’t dress anything like her. I love her over-the-top use of colour and the massive statement jewellery.

Name your favourite high street shop.

Pepperberry – the clothing range for Bravissimo. Their tops actually fit me up top. Blue ones, obviously.

Any fashion disasters

you’d care to tell us about?

My early Nineties fashion disasters are back in style now. I definitely rocked the waistcoat and also loved a pair of flowery velvet DMS that I wish I still had. Luckily I grew up in the days before social media so the photo proof is safely hidden away.

What’s your favourite item in your wardrobe?

A navy cardigan that my mum knitted for me. I’ve added a silver, gold and stone-set brooch I made to give it a bit of bling. n
