Farewell to Wing: Lifeboat man to retire from Thurso lifeboat station after 48 years
EAST KILBRIDE
Lifeboat coxswain Bill ‘Wing’ Munro will retire on Thursday 26th November having served at Thurso RNLI lifeboat station for almost 48 years.
Mr Munro, 65, has served on the crew of the Thurso lifeboat for 47 years and nine months and as full-time Coxswain for just under 16 years.
In 2011 Mr Munro and his crew rescued 12 tourists from the rocks of the Island of Stroma, in the Pentland Firth.
