Omega sees sales edge up on back of weak pound

- By PERRY GOURLEY

Scottish life sciences firm Omega Diagnostics saw sales rise by 4 per cent in the first half of the year thanks to the impact of the weak pound.

The Alva-based company, which makes allergy, food intolerance and infectious disease testing kits, said it expected to report turnover for the six months to 30 September had reached £7.11 million.

Pre-tax profits are expected to be in line with expectations and the firm said it expects a stronger second half performance.

Chairman David Evans said: “We continue to advance as a company in all our key areas and we continue to be enthusiastic about prospects and we hope to announce further progress later in the year.”
