Ex-boyfriend who tore up hostage tribute jailed
The former partner of murdered Scots hostage David Haines’s daughter has been jailed for 21 months for subjecting her to a six-month stalking campaign.
Bethany Haines, 20, yesterday welcomed the prison sentence imposed on ex-boyfriend Andrew Murray at Perth Sheriff Court.
Murray, 22, admitted he subjected Ms Haines to a “degrading and humiliating” campaign of abuse.
He tore up a treasured scrapbook that she had compiled in memory of her father following his death in Syria after being held hostage for 18 months.
Sheriff Lindsay Foulis imposed a five-year nonharassment order against Murray.
He also banned Murray from posting any “abusive or derogatory” comments about Ms Haines on any social media platform.
