Two assaulted by man after taxi disagreement

Detectives are seeking witnesses to an early-hours assault in which a man punched two people in the face in Motherwell.

The attacker is alleged to have hit a 53-year-old man and a 47-year-old woman following a disagreement over a taxi about 12:15am on Monday.

The couple had been leaving The War Office pub on Milton Street when the assault took place.

Both victims were taken to Wishaw General Hospital. The suspect is described as up to 6ft in height and of slim build. He was wearing a black baseball cap and grey clothing.
