Sarwar says new tax proposals are ‘ radical’

An a sS ar war has announced plans to give an income tax cut to everyone earning less than the average wage of £ 28,000 while increasing the burden paid by those earning more than £ 100,000.

Those earning £ 100,000plus would be hit with a new 50p tax rate, under the Labour leadership candidate’s plans. Those earning from £ 42,386 to £ 100,000 would pay a 43p rate, an increase on the current 40 per cent rate.

A 23 pr ate would be imposed on those earning between £18,001 and £ 42,385 and 1 5p on sala - ri es b et ween £ 1 1 , 801 and £ 18,000. The tax- free personal allowance would be £ 11,800.

MrSar war said his tax plan would be the most radical and progressiv­e in Holy rood history. Tory MS PM ur do Fraser said the plan would damage the eonomy.
