Driver in 30- mile cross border chase

A driver has been arrested after fleeing across the Scottish border in a police pursuit of more than 30 miles.

The motorist was eventually caught after crashing into a bank in Penrith, Cumbria, having failed to stop when signalled by officers just south of at Lockerbie on Thursday morning.

The man was arrested and taken back to Dumfries and Galloway.

Inspector Campbell Moffat from Police Scotland said: “Investigat­ions into the circumstan­ces are ongoing .”
