Funding boosts for mining heritage

An arts scheme aimed at renewing the industrial­ised heartland of East Ayrshire is inline to receive more than £ 2.5 million in National Lottery funding.

The Coal field Comm unity Landscape Partnershi­p intends to open up opportunit­ies for tourism in the area, which once had a thriving coal industry.

Lucy Casot, head of the Heritage Lottery Funding Scotland, said :“The partnershi­p will help people re connect with their heritage and inspire stewardshi­p of the land.”
