Celebrations as Sky Atlantic mini- series wraps up filming in Glasgow
Hollywood A- lister Benedict Cumber batch was spotted celebrating yesterday as he wrapped up the final scene of his upcoming TV show in Glasgow.
The English actor has been a familiar sight in Scotland’ s largest city this week as he filmed scenes for the new Sky Atlantic mini- series, Melrose.
On Thursday he was seen filming on Cochran e Street –the same spot which was turned into Philadelphia for Brad Pitt’s World War Z film a few years ago.
Yellow cabs lined the city centre street as it was transformed into 1980s New York this time.
Oscar- nominated Cumberbatch, 41, was seen wearing an eye patch over his right eye, a grey suit and long black jacket as he darted in and out cars on the Glasgow street.
A gold and green awning was seen outside one of the street’s buildings representing a luxury New York hotel.
The actor was seen celebrating and hugging crew mem- bers – and onlookers reported hearing loud cheers – as they finished the final take.
Hundreds of star- struck students gathered to watch the filming take place.
The series has been written by One Day author David Nicholls and stars Luther and Game Of Thrones actress Indira Varma.
Cumber batch’ s character, Patrick Melrose, is described as an “aristocratic and outrageously funny playboy” who turns to substance abuse in order to escape the memories of his abusive childhood.
