Lorry hits man in wheelchair in Greenock

A wheelchair user was seriously injured after being hit by a lorry.

The 41- year- old man was struck by the HGV as he crossed Dalrymple Street in Greeno ck, Inverclyde, at around 11.45 am on Wednesday.

He was taken by ambulance to the Queen E liza beth University Hospital where medical staff describe his condition as serious.

The 52- year-old lorry driver was left shaken but was not injured. Temporary road closures were put in place.

Police have appealed for any witnesses to the crash.
