The Steamie
It’s a classic piece of Scottish popular theatre with superb songs by Dave Anderson, an unforgettable slice of female history with plenty to say about community and change; and this 30th anniversary revival directed by playwright Tony Roper is perhaps the best production since the original, back in 1987. So roll up next week in Edinburgh to see The Steamie finish its tour in style, with River City stars Libby Mcarthur and Carmen Pieraccini joining Mary Mccusker, Steven Mcnicoll and Fiona Wood in this fine tribute to the life of an oldstyle Glasgow wash-house, set on Hogmanay 1950. King’s Theatre, Glasgow, final
performances today; and King’s Theatre, Edinburgh, 6-11 November, 0844 871 7648/0131-529 6000.
