Moonshot Academy was launched in July, created by chief executive Al Walker and E-spark founder Jim Duffy to tackle the issue of companies failing to scale, seeing that two thirds of seed-funded startups do not secure secondround investment.

It has now hired Sharon Mars, a former company director at marketing and communications agency Big Partnership, and Gus Sekhon, previously head of European inflation at RBS Group.

Walker said: “The ability to add marketing and financial rigour to our existing expertise in leadership coaching, revenue, supply chain and investment means we can deliver exceptionally targeted specialist support to the founders we work with as and when they need it.”

Moonshot also pointed out that it will accept a maximum of 12 additional businesses onto its programme between now and Christmas.
