Energy industry doyen Reid joins Belltree

Sir Bob Reid, the former boss of Shell UK and a doyen of the energy industry, is to become a non-executive director of Belltree, the Edinburgh-based oil and gas consultanc­y.

“Sir Bob brings extensive global experience gained through his distinguis­hed career across a wide range of industries,” Belltree said yesterday.

Reid spent 36 years at the British/dutch oil giant, rising to be chairman and chief executive of the UK business, but also spent much time overseas including posts in Nigeria, Thailand, eastern Europe and Australia.

He is also a former chairman of a range of organisati­ons including the British Railways Board, retailer Sears and London Electricit­y.

Rod Clark, managing director at Belltree, said of Reid: “His standing in the global business community and wealth of experience comes at a key stage in our business growth.

“We are continuing to build on our recent successes, including our North Sea benchmarki­ng project for the UK government, and I am sure Sir Bob’s unique insights will prove to be vital in helping us provide a truly global exploratio­n & production benchmarki­ng capability to investors, operators and regulators.”
