Room to grow: Search is on for foster carers to help young Scots strike out on their own

Samantha Struthers and Robert Muir launch a new drive by East Renfrewshire Council to find residents who have a spare bedroom and would consider helping young people. There is a particular need to find foster carers for those aged from 16 to 21, who are not yet ready to live on their own. Social workers say good foster carers can give youngsters crucial support as they prepare to become independent.
