Arise Dame Julie: Much-loved actress is honoured for services to drama

Actress and writer Julie Walters shows off her new gong after being made a Dame Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, or DBE, for services to drama. The 67-year-old Bafta-winner, whose career was launched when she appeared in the 1983 hit Educating Rita alongside Michael Caine, received the honour from the Queen at Buckingham Palace. The film earned the star her first Oscar nomination – she won a second for her role in Billy Elliot in 2000,
