Direct Line takes a hit on shares

Shares in insurer Direct Line dipped 3 per cent yesterday to close at 355.9p after the firm said it could take a higher impairment charge linked to its capital expenditur­e programme.

The company said it had tweaked investment plans, which are aimed at improving customer experience­s, supporting growth and increasing efficiency.
