Bogus caller steals thousands from pensioner

An elderly man was defrauded of tens of thousands of pounds after opening his door to a caller.

The 85-year-old man was at home in the Shedden Park Road area of Kelso on 30 October when a man called saying he was there to check the security on the pensioner’s computer.

He was allowed into the man’s home and given access to a laptop where a five-figure sum of money was removed from the victim’s internet banking accounts.

Officers at Police Scotland have said that inquiries are ongoing to identify the suspect.
