New Scotrail trains delayed until late March

Scotrail’s new fleet of electric trains will not enter service on the main Edinburgh-glasgow line until late March, The Scotsman has learned.

The Hitachi Class 385 trains were due to have been introduced on the route this autumn.

It follows problems with electrifying the line and train building.

Other electric trains will operate some peak services on the route from next month as planned.
