SRA shapes up with deal to snap up Sighthill site

- By SCOTT REID

SRA Ventures, the property investment specialist owned by Scots entrepreneur Shaf Rasul, has bought a sprawling industrial unit in Edinburgh for £1.25 million.

The 37,458 square foot property at Sighthill, which is currently occupied by the Shapes furniture and auction business, will be available to let or for sale from January and SRA said it expects it to command “strong market interest”.

The investment company believes that there remains a shortage of industrial stock of this scale in Edinburgh for large-scale users.

Earlier this week it emerged that Shapes Furniture would be moving to the Port Edgar Marina in South Queensferry over the coming months.

Rasul said: “I’m delighted to have secured this excellent and flexible asset in the heart of industrial Edinburgh that could cater for various uses. The deal represents a significant investment and a further exciting addition to our commercial property portfolio. It’s a great opportunity to reposition and add value.”
