Dutch nephew pays its way

Aegon UK is paying a £150 million dividend to its Dutch parent, an overt status symbol of its new financial strength. At times down the years there has been fitful speculation as to how committed to the Edinburgh-based business Aegon truly was.

That should die down now given the obvious way the long-term investment in the UK has paid off for the life and pensions group.
