Rangers and Celtic linked with Aussie teen Mcgree

Celtic and Rangers have been cred­ited with an in­ter­est in the widely ad­mired Aus­tralian teenager Ri­ley Mcgree.

The mid­fielder was on Celotic’s radar ear­lier this year but joined Club Brugge dur­ing the sum­mer from Ade­laide United.

Mcgree, 19, has yet to break into the Bel­gian league lead­ers’ first team this sea­son.

How­ever Celtic scouts are still mon­i­tor­ing the Aus­tralian Un­der-23 in­ter­na­tional’s progress, while Rangers have also been linked with the player.

Re­ports in Bel­gium claim Brugge will let Mcgree leave in Jan­uary or next sum­mer if the price is right – de­spite him be­ing tied to a con­tract un­til 2021.

Dubbed the bright­est prospect in Aus­tralian foot­ball, the teenager made 21 ap­pear­ances and scored two goals for A-league out­fit Ade­laide last sea­son.

He was called into the Soc­ceroos squad in March, but still awaits his first se­nior cap. l For­mer Dundee and Rangers striker Na­cho Novo is one of the names un­der con­sid­er­a­tion to be­come the new man­ager of League 2 side Clyde.

Novo, 38, ap­plied to be­come the man­ager of Air­drie in Au­gust but was un­suc­cess­ful and has now thrown his hat into the ring to re­place Jim Chap­man at Cly­de­fol­low­ingchap­man’s sack­ing last week.
