Crusaders excited by Laszlo factor

- By CRAIG P STEWART

Crusaders boss Stephen Baxter is hoping the fans of Dundee United will turn out to welcome their new manager Csaba Laszlo to the club as he wants his players to play in front of as big a crowd as possible.

The Belfast side will fly into Edinburgh this morning and then head to Tannadice, with Baxter hoping that the United faithful will provide a real cup-tie atmosphere for their Irnbru Cup quarter-final.

He explained: “I noticed Dundee United had a crowd of nearly 7,000 for the game against St Mirren last weekend and it would be terrific if we could get the experience of playing in front of a crowd like that.

“With the new manager in place and a couple of wins under their belt there could be a good turnout and that would be terrific.

“We have played Motherwell’s under-20s and then Cove Rangers from the Highland League so we know that is a jump up in terms of the quality of opposition.”

Elsewhere, Inverness Caledonian Thistle have a home tie against Falkirk, with the Highlanders 50 minutes short of beating a club record of 617 minutes without losing a goal, while fellow Championship side Dumbarton host League 1 Raith Rovers.

Tomorrow afternoon Queen of the South face The New Saints at Park Hall in a match screened live on S4C.
