- By CRAIG P STEWART

The League 1 title race looks to be a full-on bettle between Ayr United and Raith Rovers but, with both clubs excused from league duty today, attention turns to the six sides who have their hopes pinned on a top-four place at the moment.

Alloa sit third and they head to Coatbridge to face an Albion Rovers side who are four places below but only two points worse off.

The Wasps are looking for a fourth consecutive win but managerjimgoodwinisplaying things cool. He said: “The table is much better to look at than it was a few weeks ago but we will not be getting carried away. Rovers have scored 29 goals and lost 29 goals so it could be an eventful afternoon.”

Rovers boss Brian Kerr said: “We are doing the hardest part of the game well but need to fix defensive issues.”

Injury-hit East Fife visit a Forfar side boosted by coming off bottom spot, with Bayview manager Darren Young saying: “I would strongly fancy our chances if we had everyone available but, unfortunately, we could be seven bodies down which makes it very difficult.”

Arbroath

manager Dick Campbell will not be lulled into a false sense of security when his side visit Queen’s Park, who have slipped to tenth place. Campbell said: “In my 40-odd years in football I have never had an easy game against Queen’s Park. I love the way their players work and it will be the same in this game.”

Airdrie who sit eighth six points behind Alloa meet Stranraer for a third time this season, with Stair Park manager Stevie Farrell saying: “We know each other very well but I am okay with that. It is the chance to test yourself as a coach as you need to come up with something different to win.”
