Edinburgh City have completed a double signing swoop with the capture of former Hibs striker Farid El Alagui and young Falkirk defender Liam Henderson.

El Alagui, 32, pictured, has joined the struggling capital side on a deal until the end of the season after featuring as a trialist in last Saturday’s narrow defeat by league leaders Stirling Albion.

Henderson, 21, has moved from Falkirk on an emergency loan and both signings could feature in today’s game against Berwick Rangers at Shielfield.

City manager James Mcdonaugh said: “Farid is a player who I met while at Hibernian but who first caught my eye scoring so many goals for Falkirk. Liam and Farid are two great additions to the squad and I hope they can help us kick on over an important upcoming period.”

Stirling Albion head to managerless Clyde with Forthbank boss Dave Mackay wary of the threat posed by the Bully Wee. The last time the sides met Stirling were on a high after winning their first four league matches but went down 3-2. Mackay said: “Clyde showed that day what they were capable of.”

Second-place Montrose host Annan, while promotion-seeking Peterhead and Stenhousemuir meet at Balmoor with the Blue Toon out to end a run of four straight defeats from the Warriors. Cowdenbeath interim manager John Ovenstone is determined that the Blue Brazil defeat Elgin at Central Park and mark his time in charge with a win.

Ovenstone said: “We are looking to get things moving in a forward direction and winning this game would be a great start.”
