Love, Lies & Records Kay Mellor’s new six-part drama follows registrar Kate Dickenson, played by Ashley Jensen, as she tries to juggle her personal life with the daily dramas of births, marriages and deaths recorded at Greater Leeds Register Office.
Alongside sweet romance and sudden death are sham marriages, office rivalry and a teenage daughter who is hiding suspicious messages on her phone. In the first episode, Kate is up for promotion, but a disgruntled colleague threatens to expose a risqué secret from her past.
Also starring Rebecca Front as work rival Judy and Adrian Bower as Kate’s partner Rob, a DS on the local force.

HEALTH Alan Shearer: Dementia, Football And Me Ex footballer Alan Shearer investigates the potentially devastating link between football and dementia in this one-off film. With recent reports of a worrying number of the England ’66 team suffering from dementia and scientific evidence growing about the risks of concussion in sport, the former Newcastle forward and all-time Premier League top scorer explores football’s potential links with brain injury. Discussing the issue with footballing legends past and present, the former England captain also investigates the latest research from Britain and turns himself over to science – before taking his findings to the football authorities.

David Walliams interviews the man born Reg Dwight and the countdown to his most popular song – according to an ITV poll – is revealed.

Stuck On You This quirky programme tells the tale of the humble football sticker, which started as an addictive playground pursuit and ended up a multi-billion pound industry.
With contributions from sticker album mainstay Ryan Giggs, superfans Pamela Gupta and Perris Hatton, along with the son of one of the founders of industry giant Panini, the programme gives a vivid insight into how the phrase, “Got, not got, need,” entered the language of children across Britain as they attempted to complete their albums.

SPORT
Live Boxing Undefeated super lightweight Josh Taylor, aka The Tartan Tornado, from Prestonpans is fighting former world champion Miguel Vazquez from Mexico at the Royal Highland Centre this evening as part of his campaign to get a world title shot.
It’s a step up in class for Taylor in just his eleventh pro fight, but great things are predicted for him in the sport as he tops the bill on the show, which is broadcast live by Channel 5. ■
