Tapsalteerie Pamphlet Launch

Translated into Scots by Tom Hubbard, these poems are a vibrant, faithful introduction to an excellent poet’s work. The evening also features performances by BBC Scotland Poet in Residence Stuart Paterson and the award-winning Marcas Mac an Tuairneir, who have collaborated on a new pamphlet, heelster-gowdie/beul-fo-bhonn.
Brian Johnstone & Trio Verso
21 November, 7pm, £5 Brian Johnstone’s poetry-and-jazz group Trio Verso celebrate their tenth anniversary with a special performance in the Scottish Poetry Library. Bringing an original approach to live poetry, the trio frame spoken word in music that is at times swinging and at others haunting. During performances, Johnstone delivers his verse in relation to the sounds created while the musicians play their instruments in response to the poetry. Their jazz grooves and freely improvised soundscapes refocus the ideas behind the 1950s poetry and jazz movement for a contemporary audience.
