Fourth win in a row keeps Alloa on top

-

All four matches in League 1 ended 2-0, Alloa holding on to third place with a win at Albion Rovers where they took the lead through Iain Flannigan and secured victory in injury time when goalkeeper Graham Bowman’s clearance hit Kris Renton and rebounded into the net.

Alloa manager Jim Goodwin said: “That is our fourth win in a row, and we are delighted with that. However no-one will be getting carried away.”

Arbroath won at Queen’s Park where 45-year-old former Dundee, Celtic and Scotland keeper Rab Douglas kept a clean sheet in his first game for nearly two years.

Gavin Swankie and Colin Hamilton were on target, with Douglas rarely called into action.

East Fife lost to hosts Forfar who show signs of improvement under new manager Jim Weir. Eddie Malone headed home just before the hour and Michael Travis turned in a free-kick shortly afterwards.

Airdrie scored their first win in five games when they defeated Stranraer at the Excelsior Stadium, Ryan Conroy giving the Diamonds a lead on 61 minutes and doubling their advantage with a precise curling effort seven minutes later.
