‘Generous’ man killed in tragic scooter accident

Police have named a man who was found dead after his mobility scooter toppled over in the Borders.

Andrew Goodfellow, 77, was found by a member of the public on the B6359 in Hawick on Thursday morning. Mr Goodfellow was travelling on the road to Hathendean, near Knowetownhead Townhouse, when his scooter toppled over.

The Scottish Ambulance Service attended, but he died at the scene.

Mr Goodfellow’s family described him as “a generous and kind man” with a passion for horse racing.
