‘Generous’ man killed in tragic scooter accident

Police have named a man who was found dead after his mobility scooter toppled over in the Borders.

Andrew Goodfellow, 77, was found by a member of the public on the B6359 in Hawick on Thursday morning. Mr Goodfellow was travelling on the road to Hathendean, near Knowetownh­ead Townhouse, when his scooter toppled over.

The Scottish Ambulance Service attended, but he died at the scene.

Mr Goodfellow’s family described him as “a generous and kind man” with a passion for horse racing.
