Inner Hebridean island loses its only school
A tiny Scottish island has been left without a school.
The only school on Canna – the westernmost isle in the Inner Hebrides – was shut after a family of four children left.
The National Trust for Scotland (NTS), which owns the island, is investigating how new families can be attracted to Canna.
The island has a population of just 17 people. The school would re-open if another family moved there.
