Arkle trial for River Wylde

Nicky Henderson is planning to run River Wylde in the Racing Post Arkle Trophy Trial Novices’ Chase at Cheltenham on Sunday.

The six-year-old was a smart novice hurdler last season, winning the Dovecote Novices’ Hurdle at Kempton in February and finishing an excellent third in the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle at Cheltenham in March.

He pleased connections when making a winning start over the bigger obstacles at Uttoxeter earlier this month.

Henderson said: “That’s the plan, to go to Cheltenham. I was delighted with him at Uttoxeter and he looked like he needed the run. He was a bit low over them to start with, but I thought he was great throughout the race and he will come on a lot for that.”
