Stur­geon quizzed for book week

Book­weekscot­landis­launch­ing its first vir­tual fes­ti­val this year, with the First Min­is­ter and crime writer Val Mc­der­mid among high-pro­file fig­ures tak­ing part.

The fes­ti­val will fea­ture free dig­i­tal events and will run along­side the ac­tiv­i­ties and events tak­ing place around the coun­try from Novem­ber 27 to De­cem­ber 3.

The Vir­tual Fes­ti­val will open with Crime Writ­ers Play Cluedo where Ms Mc­der­mid and fel­low best­selling au­thors Stu­art Macbride and Doug John­stone will pit their knowl­edge of the crim­i­nal mind against each other and dis­cuss their own plots and favourite who­dun­nits.

First Min­is­ter Nicola Stur­geon will take part in a live Twit­ter ques­tion-an­dan­swer ses­sion on Novem­ber 28 about her love of read­ing. Mem­bers of the pub­lic can sub­mit their ques­tions via Book Week Scot­land’s of­fi­cial Twit­ter ac­count.

Other events in­clude a cook-along with The Ed­in­burgh Food Stu­dio chef and co-owner Ben Reade.
