Sturgeon quizzed for book week

Bookweeksc­otlandisla­unching its first virtual festival this year, with the First Minister and crime writer Val Mcdermid among high-profile figures taking part.

The festival will feature free digital events and will run alongside the activities and events taking place around the country from November 27 to December 3.

The Virtual Festival will open with Crime Writers Play Cluedo where Ms Mcdermid and fellow bestsellin­g authors Stuart Macbride and Doug Johnstone will pit their knowledge of the criminal mind against each other and discuss their own plots and favourite whodunnits.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon will take part in a live Twitter question-andanswer session on November 28 about her love of reading. Members of the public can submit their questions via Book Week Scotland’s official Twitter account.

Other events include a cook-along with The Edinburgh Food Studio chef and co-owner Ben Reade.
