Baseball attack victim in hospital

A man is in hospital with a head injury after being assaulted by two men with baseball bats in a “targeted and brutal attack” as he set off for work.

The pair chased the 51-yearold victim as he was getting into his van in Campsie Place, Chryston, North Lanarkshire, at around 6:20am yesterday.

The men attacked him with the bats before escaping in a vehicle. He was reported to be “stable” in Glasgow Royal Infirmary with a head injury. Police appealed for witnesses.
