Red squirrels comeback in granite grey city
Red squirrels are returning to Aberdeen for the first time in decades, according to conservationists.
The native creatures have been spotted in the grounds of the James Hutton Institute in the west and near the University of Aberdeen, just north or the city centre.
Saving Scotland’s Red Squirrels partnership say it is proof the iconic species is making a comeback.
Conservation officer Dr Gwen Maggs said: “We’ve had members of the public reporting red squirrels in their back gardens for the first time in as much as 29 years.”
