#ALCOHOL

An appeal to the Supreme Court by the Scotch Whisky Association opposing Scottish Government plans to put a minimum price on a unit of alcohol was rejected. @Nicolasturgeon tweeted: “Absolutely delighted that minimum pricing has been upheld by the Supreme Court. This has been a long road – and no doubt the policy will continue to have its critics – but it is a bold and necessary move to improve public health.” @seanewa said: “It’s the people at the bottom of the pile in our society who will be affected the most by minimum pricing of alcohol.” @Nicpettigrewxx offered: “The more I think about how anti-working class the minimum alcohol pricing is, the angrier I get. The Scottish Government should be investing more in tackling the problems behind problem drinking, not just putting the price up” @Robert_mac88 joked: “With the new alcohol pricing laws a litre of Glenn’s is gonna cost £18, good news is there’s no minimum pricing on bleach”

#SCOTLANDMANAGER

The Scottish FA made an approach to their Northern Irish counterparts to speak with Michael O’neill to fill the vacant managerial position. @Kieranandrewssp enthused: “Knew Michael O’neill when I was a cub reporter and he was managing @Brechincityfc He’s a gent and extremely talented. Fingers crossed.” @Kevinrohan3 posted: “The SFA making an approach for Michael O’neill is a bold, ambitious, and good one. Knows how to get the best out of an average bunch and not afraid to select home-based players. Also has a Plan B if Plan A isn’t working.” @Dan23_92 shared: “The Scotland job would be a step sideways for Michael O’neill. Might suit his personal life but as a career move it would be a strange one given he could pick up a decent job in England as a free agent.”

#GREGGS

Greggs has apologised for replacing baby Jesus with a sausage roll in the launch of its Advent calendar. @Juliaerrens jested: “How disrespectful to our lard and savour.” @Samp9000 said: “The bible would be much better if Jesus was a sausage roll” @wintee joked: “Wait till they see the photo where Joseph and his pregnant Bridie travel to Bethlehem!”
