UN court set to rule over war crimes general
Former Bosnian Serb military commander General Ratko Mladic may not show up in a UN courtroom tomorrow when judges deliver theirv erdicts in his long- running trial for allegedly masterminding atrocities during Bosnia’s 1992- 95 war.
Ml adic’ s lawyers have filed a flurry of motions to have the ailing 75- yearold’s health assessed before the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia announces its decisions.
He faced 11 counts of genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes, in a marathon trial that began back in 2011.
The court last year convicted his political master, former Bosnia nSerbp resident Rad ovanKaradzic, on near- identical charges and sentenced him to 40 years. Karadzic has since appealed.
