Safe stolen from home of pensioner

A safe containing a “significant” amount of cash has been stolen from a pensioner’s home.

The victim, an 82-yearold man, is “distraught” by the theft from a house in the Merkinch area of Inverness on Monday, police said. Officers are working to find out when the money was actually taken from the Abbey Court property.

Detective Constable Jack Weatherall said: “I would urge anyone who believes they have seen anything suspicious around the Abbey Court area or has any information about this incident to contact us as soon as possible.”
