Boost for bid to attract funds to John O’groats

- By PERRY GOURLEY

Plans to attract new investors and developers to revitalise John O’groats have moved forwardwiththeappointment of joint agents to market sites.

Outline planning consent is in place for a masterplan development of the town in the far north of Scotland to include shops, leisure facilities and holiday accommodation.

Shepherd Chartered Surveyors and Strutt & Parker have been appointed to market the six zones which make up the development area.

Sandy Rennie, partner in the Inverness office of Shepherd, said: “This is a unique opportunity to invest in an iconic location within the UK and capitalise on the tourist trade, which has gone from strength to strength, particularly through the success of the North Coast 500 route.”

John O’groats is also starting to see the economic benefits of tidal energy company Atlantis Resources’ Meygen project in the Pentland Firth.
